Mobile Overtakes Desktop in 2014 - Meet Google, Adobe, Mozilla, eBay, Microsoft at the jQuery Europe "Get in Touch"
VIENNA, January 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Back in 2010 Morgan Stanley predicted that the number of users of mobile devices will overtake the number of users on desktop devices in 2014. eMarkter even estimated that the time spent on non-voice mobile activities will surpass time spent online on desktop and laptop computers. This trend poses new challenges for developers of web applications and heightens the need for content optimized for mobile use.
Considering this trend jQuery Europe 2014 chose the topic "GET IN TOUCH: Swipe, drag and touch with the upcoming tablet devices becomes more and more important".
From Feb. 28th to March 1st about 300 developers from all over Europe will meet 16 international speakers from Google, Adobe Mozilla, eBay, Microsoft, and other web pioneers to talk about the newest trends and technologies around jQuery, Javascript and web applications for mobile platforms.
Douglas Neiner, Vice President of Products at Appendto will once again give us the honor and attend the jQuery Europe. His talk will focus on the question "Is the Message Getting Through?", arguing that loosely coupled communication between components can be both a blessing and a curse in times when web applications are growing in size and complexity. He will tell us about real world implications of using messaging in your app and he will explore issues of debugging, unit testing, abstraction strategies, request-response patterns and other tips and guidelines.
Paul Bakaus, Developer Advocate at Google, will tell us about a prototype of the first JavaScript-based game engine "The Aves Engine", that he created himself. He will give us insights into everything that might be interesting about runtime performance and after explaining those concepts, he will go into more detail as to how to apply it to your daily development.
Francisco Ferreira, Agile Software Engineer at eBay, will also join us as a speaker and tell us about "Merging responsive and adaptive techniques for mobile web". He will explain how the responsive web development lives within adaptive. By using simple techniques and highly specialized widgets he will show us how we can avoid the use of frameworks that add significant code debt. Thus, this talk will mostly be about how to structure and build HTML and CSS in order to make the code highly modular.
"JS Legos: Reusable UI Patterns in JavaScript", will be presented by Tyler Benziger, Computer Scientist at Adobe Systems. His talk will cover how to effectively organize and compose UI components in JavaScript, HTML and CSS, as well as give an overview of identifying UI patterns. There will be some more common UI components discussed and similarities between them will be identified. This will shed light on the construction of these components, further exploring how to effectively decouple code so that it can be reused effectively across projects.
