Moscow State University Hospital, a 300 bed in-patient facility which also treats over 400 out-patients daily, deployed the Ekahau RTLS system in order to track and monitor key medical assets on campus. Ekahau RTLS badges also ensure that staff can request immediate location-enabled assistance and instantly communicate, in the event of a patient or staff emergency.
"MSU was looking for an innovative locating and communication system that would meet our needs as a state of the art teaching hospital" said Sergey Vasuk, Director of Information Technology at MSU. "Upon reviewing different options, Ekahau was chosen because of its unique offering. Ekahau RTLS was easy to install, yet provided the services and performance required," he added.
The Ekahau RTLS system uses the hospital's existing Wi-Fi network to determine staff and asset locations, providing wireless alarming and automated work-flow related communications capabilities. MSU selected Ekahau because the hospital wanted to deploy a system that could cover the whole campus while providing accurate real-time location and work-flow intelligence around assets and staff requests for assistance.
"We are proud to have been selected by MSU because we share their vision of leveraging RTLS to improve operational efficiency and ensure the safety of all stakeholders," said Tuomo Rutanen, EVP of Marketing at Ekahau.
The Ekahau RTLS system was deployed in cooperation with Ubitel, a leading St. Petersburg-based RFID and RTLS solution provider as well as the Moscow-based IBS Group, a leading Russian Systems Integrator.
The Ekahau RTLS deployment is part of a broader initiative at MSU to leverage not only RTLS but RFID and Wireless Sensor networks as well to improve overall supply chain, patient care operations and safety management.
