Interviewed by Helen Wright, Russell Hobby explains that members of the NAHT see their duty to mentor and support the next generation of leaders in a potentially difficult education climate. Many potential members are already part of NAHT, or have been eligible in the past, but the creation of a new organisation enables NAHT to focus more on the needs of aspiring leaders rather than those more established in their careers.
Louis Coiffait continues to explain the practical implementations of the NAHT Edge initiative and how they are going to tackle particular needs through development and training to strengthen the bond between middle and senior leaders within schools.
Russell and Louis outline how teaching comes with its share of joys and difficulties. Middle leaders are not always well understood, but the NAHT is familiar with the pressures faced by middle leaders when moving into a senior positions.
