"In under two years, we've entirely revamped Newsweek's website, relaunched the magazine in print and have now turned our attention to an enhanced mobile experience," said Etienne Uzac, CEO and Co-Founder of IBT Media. "Larger smartphones allow consumers to experience more on their phones, making this the perfect time to release the iPhone app."
The iPhone app will be free for current Newsweek subscribers. New readers will get one free issue when they download the app, and can then purchase single issues for $4.99, a 1-month subscription for $3.99 or a 1-year subscription for $39.99. Subscribers will get each week's full issue on Thursdays, one day ahead of print issues, which hit newsstands on Fridays.
"Our new app has a beautiful display for readers to enjoy not only our award-winning reporting, but all of the powerful images that fill the magazines' pages each week," added Johnathan Davis, Chief Content Officer and Co-Founder of IBT Media. "Ultimately, the vision for Newsweek is to be platform-agnostic, where subscribers can enjoy our content across existing, as well as exciting new applications."
