Praising both the Turkish economy and Turkcell during his speech, Al Gore commented that "This time Turkey has caught the technology wave rising across the world just in time. The invention of printing was a revolution that enabled people to access information and change their lives. Anatolia, the center of civilization back then, missed that process. I closely follow Turkcell due to my tenure at Google and Apple. As the only Turkish company listed on the NYSE for 12 years, Turkcell has done an impressive job on employment, business development, technological investments and infrastructure. Turkcell has always been, and will remain the driving engine of the Turkish economy. Due to Turkcell's success in information technologies Turkey will be one of the countries that will shape the future."
Turkcell also launched the Leaders Platform during the Leaders' Summit that was held on September 22, 2012. This Platform brings added value to senior executives through the vision of "leaders who teach and learn". Turkcell CEO Sureyya Ciliv commented that "Turkey's improvement and our companies' growth are parallel to the vision and targets of business world leaders. We should all be eager to learn and enthusiastic for innovation. There are two keys to this: Collaboration and communication. We launch the Leaders Platform for business leaders to learn from each other, communicate and collaborate more… Today, we had the opportunity to brainstorm with Al Gore, who claimed the internet would be the information highway of the future, back in the 70's. Through the Leaders Platform, we will find unique and creative solutions together."
