Northrop Grumman Highlights Civil Defence and National Security Capabilities at Counter Terror Expo 2011 Exhibition, London
LONDON, April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) will highlight a range of its products and capabilities dedicated to civil defence, national security and resilience at the Counter Terror Expo 2011 conference and exhibition being held in London.
Counter Terror Expo, the international exhibition and conference dedicated to addressing the continuing worldwide threat from terrorism, takes place from 19-20 April in the Grand Hall, Olympia Exhibition and Conference Centre, London. The Northrop Grumman exhibit will be at stand F50.
"Security solutions are a core capability for Northrop Grumman. From unmanned ground vehicle systems for improvised explosive device [IED] clearance, to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear incident [CBRN] monitoring and analysis, and cyber security, our technologies and systems integration expertise put us at the forefront of international capabilities available to meet the challenges of today's ever changing terrorist threat," said Sir Nigel Essenhigh, chief executive of Northrop Grumman's Information Systems sector Europe.
Northrop Grumman U.K. will showcase its civil defence and security solutions with equipment, displays and presentations of key technologies.
On display will be a range of Northrop Grumman's industry-leading unmanned ground vehicles including the Wheelbarrow Mk9 and the versatile Caliber T5 and Mk3 vehicles. The Wheelbarrow Mk9 is the enhanced version of the Wheelbarrow vehicle for the remote handling of hazardous threats including bomb disposal, tactical and surveillance operations. Designed, developed and manufactured in the U.K. by Northrop Grumman at its facility in Coventry, the Mk9 vehicle includes advanced technology and performance features for civil and public security applications.
The Wheelbarrow Mk9 vehicle will demonstrate its capabilities in vehicle borne IED clearance as part of the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) Live Product Demonstration Showcase.
Also on display will be the Integrated Tactical Rapid Assessment of CBRN Environments (I-TRACE) system, Northrop Grumman's new man-portable capability for the monitoring of CBRN incidents and the collection and handling of related data. I-TRACE facilitates decision support and enhances situational awareness and information sharing among emergency response organizations. Analysed data is provided to users through a web portal. I-TRACE requires no specialist vehicle installation and can be rapidly deployed using existing "blue light" emergency services vehicles.
Highlighted will be Northrop Grumman's capabilities in cyber security including the application of the company's federated cyber test range for the resilience testing of large scale networks, cyber diagnostics and cyber team training. Formally opened in October 2010 at its Fareham facility, the cyber test range is the only one of its type outside the U.S. and is the U.K.'s only commercially available cyber range facility.
Northrop Grumman's biometric data capture and information search capability for rapid identity management will be on display. BioTRAC is an electronic mobile scanning system integrated with a ruggedized laptop computer which enables fingerprint, face and iris image capture together with rapid biometric matching capabilities. Captured biometric information can be sent to local policing databases as well as national and international repositories.
Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its Command Point computer-aided dispatch application. The company is currently designing, developing and will implement a new computer-aided dispatch system using Command Point for the London Ambulance Service to handle emergency calls and ambulance movements. The new system will be fully operational to support the London Ambulance Service during the 2012 London Olympics.
Exhibited also will be the company's tactical command and control systems, Integrated Tactical Command and Control Services (I-TaCCS) and Integrated Joint Operational Command and Control Services (I-JOCCS). The core software component of I-TaCCS is used around the world and is in service in more than 40 countries with 100,000 users. Presentations will be available on these systems.
