Now We Have a Plan: Dame Ellen MacArthur Presents the Circular Economy at TED
COWES, England, July 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Dame Ellen MacArthur, founder of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, featured on TED.com this week following the video launch of her circular economy presentation at TED Global 2015 in Vancouver.
TED.com, which is dedicated to 'ideas worth spreading', provides a platform for thought leaders to share their insights with a global audience. The video of Dame Ellen's appearance at TED2015 last March has been watched over 100,000 times in its first 24 hours of release, enabling viewers from all over the world to engage with the circular economy framework for the first time.
After three years of research and insight gathering, Dame Ellen established the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in 2010 with a mission to accelerate the transition to the circular economy - a more prosperous, regenerative and restorative economic system, in which growth does not depend on the consumption of finite resources.
The inspiring ideas presented by Dame Ellen at TED will be explored further in the online Disruptive Innovation Festival, 2-20 November 2015, which is curated by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. The Disruptive Innovation Festival showcases how thought leaders, business innovators, thinkers, makers, learners and doers are challenging the linear 'take-make-dispose' model of the economy, and invites participants to get involved through online and face-to-face events - to highlight 'ideas worth implementing'.

1. The Ellen MacArthur Foundation
The Ellen MacArthur Foundation was created in 2010 to accelerate the transition to a circular economy. With Knowledge Partner, McKinsey & Co, the Foundation works to quantify the economic potential of the circular model and to develop approaches for capturing this value. The Foundation collaborates with Global Partners (Cisco, Kingfisher, Philips, Renault, Unilever), and its CE100 network (businesses, governments and cities), to develop circular business initiatives and build capacity. The Foundation is also creating a global teaching and learning platform on the circular economy, encompassing work with leading universities, schools and colleges, and online events such as the Disruptive Innovation Festival.
