This is a key development for OAG Cargo as Copa is the first Latin American airline to publish all of its origin & destination cargo rates in AFRA – a system that enables air freight rates to be communicated between airlines and forwarders; as well as forwarders producing sales quotations for electronic delivery to shippers. This enhanced ease of access to vital information will provide a significant benefit for the freight forwarding community across the whole of Latin America and will encourage other carriers to publish their rates in AFRA as well.
Copa Airlines' Pricing Assistant Manager, Carmen Fanny Gonzalez Acevedo added:
"We chose AFRA as a platform because we believe it will significantly help us to raise awareness of the breadth and effectiveness of our service. Operating through our Hub of the Americas in Panama, we connect cargo from the North, South, Central and Caribbean regions. It will also allow us to consolidate our relationships with agencies and airlines around the world."
Teresita McConney, OAG Cargo's Sales Manager, Latin America commented:
"We're delighted that Copa Airlines, the largest carrier in the region, has decided to publish its rates in AFRA. Not only are we confident that it will prove to be of great benefit for Copa, it could also be an important first step for the entire Latin American cargo industry."
