Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Market showed a Decrease of 3% in the First Quarter of 2016. 

While Passenger Car Market Increased 1%, Light Commercial Vehicle Market Decreased 12%.  

Turkish passenger car and light commercial vehicle total market decreased 2.75% in the first quarter of 2016 compared to the same quarter of the previous year, to 168,486. In the three-month period of 2015, a total market sales figure of 173,248 was reached.

Passenger car sales went up 0.73% in the first quarter of 2016, compared to the same quarter of the last year, to 127,921. In the same period of 2015, the sales reached 126,991.

In the first quarter of 2016, light commercial vehicle market decreased 12.31%, in comparison to the year before, to 40,565. In the same period last year, the sales reached 46,257.

Passenger Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Market showed a decrease of 0.4% in March 2016.  

While Passenger Car Market Increased 4%, Light Commercial Vehicle Market Decreased 12%.  

In March 2016, passenger car and light commercial vehicle market decreased to 82,948. In comparison to the total number of 83,302 in March 2015 in the passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, the sales went down in a ratio of 0.42%.

In March 2016, passenger car sales went up 3.73% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 63,975. Last year, the sales reached 61,676.

Light commercial vehicle market decreased 12.27% in March 2016 compared to March 2015, to 18,973. Last year, the sales reached 21,626.

In the end of March 2016, an increase of 1,80% in the sales of passenger car below 1600cc and a decrease of 22.20% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc engine volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, a decrease of 17.45% was observed. 7 electric vehicles were sold in the first three months of 2016.

When the average emission values of the passenger car market in the end of March 2016 are considered, the passenger cars between 100-120g/km took the largest piece of the pie with a ratio of 46.78% and with a number of 59,839.

In the end of March 2016, diesel passenger car sales increased a share of 63.11%, while the automatic transmission passenger cars increased with a share of 54.13%.

In the end of March 2016, 81.53% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. When evaluated according to segments, Segment C with a share of 49.39% reached the highest sales volume (63,175). When evaluated according to frame, most preferred body type was again Sedan (48.78%, a quantity of 62,398).

In the end of March 2016, when evaluated according to body type, Van's with a share of 68.43% had the highest sales volume (27,758), Light trucks followed them with a share of 12.53% (5,083) while the share of Minibuses was 10.86% (4,404) and the share of Pick-ups was 8.18% (3,320) in light commercial vehicle market.

We foresee that the automotive industry's total market for the year 2016 to be between 900 and 950 thousand in quantity.

In the first quarter of 2016, passenger car and light commercial vehicle total market presented a sales number of 168,486. In comparison to the total number of 173,248 in the same period of 2015, the sales went down in a ratio of 2.75%.

In March 2016, passenger car and light commercial vehicle market presented a sales number of 82,948. In comparison to the total number of 83,302 in March, the sales went down in a ratio of 0.42%.

Passenger car and light commercial vehicle market, in comparison to the average 10-year March sales, showed an increase of 36.93%.  

In the first quarter of 2016, passenger car sales went up by 0.73% in comparison to the same period of the year before and became 127,921. In the same period of the last year, the sales reached 126,991.

In March 2016, passenger car sales went up by 3.73% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 63,975. In March of the last year, the sales reached 61,676.

The passenger car market, in comparison to the average 10-year March sales, showed an increase of 51.38%.  

In January-March period of 2016, light commercial vehicle sales decreased 12.31% in comparison to the same period of the last year, to 40,565. In the same period of the last year, the sales reached 46,257.

In March 2016, light commercial vehicle sales decreased 12.27% in comparison to the same month of the last year, to 18,973. In March of the last year, the sales reached 21,626.

The light commercial vehicle market, in comparison to the average 10-year March sales, showed an increase of 3.59%.  

When the end of March 2016 passenger car market is studied in terms of engine volume, the biggest slice of the pie was taken by passenger cars under 1600cc with a ratio of 96.42% and a number of 123,341. Passenger cars between 1600 to 2000cc followed them with a ratio of 2.82% and passenger cars above 2000cc with a ratio of 0.76%. In comparison with the same period of 2015, an increase of 1.80% in the sales of passenger cars below 1600cc and a decrease of 22.20% in the sales of passenger cars with a 1600-2000cc motor volume was observed. As for the sales of the passenger cars over 2000cc, a decrease of 17.45% was observed. In the first quarter of 2016, 1 electric car below 85kW engine power and 6 electric cars above 121 kW engine power were sold.

When the end of March 2016 passenger car market is studied in terms of average emission values, passenger cars between 100-120 gr/km have the highest share of 46.78% (59,839) and following this, passenger cars between 120-140 gr/km have a share of 24.50% (31,336).

Diesel passenger car sales in the end of March 2016 increased 4.72% in comparison to the last year. Diesel share in passenger car sales in the end of March 2016, when compared to the same period of 2015, increased from 60.71% to 63.11% (80,734).

In the end of March 2016, automatic transmission passenger car sales numbers, in comparison to the same period in 2015, increased 17.79%. Automatic transmission passenger car sale shares in the end of March 2016, in comparison to the same period of the previous year, increased from 46.29% to 54.13% (a number of 69,247).

In the end of March 2016, 81.53% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. When evaluated according to segments, Segment C with a share of 49.39% has the highest sales volume (63,175) and Segment B follows it with a share of 31.73% (40,586).

In the end of March 2016, when evaluated according to frame, most preferred body type was again Sedan (48.78%, a quantity of 62,398). Following Sedan passenger cars, Hatchback frame with a share of 29.50% and a sales volume of 37,731 and SUV with a share of 16.01% and total sales volume of 20,481.

In the end of March 2016, when evaluated in light commercial vehicle market according to body type, Van's with a share of 68.43% had the highest sales volume (27,758), Light trucks followed them with a share of 12.53% (5,083) while the share of Minibuses was 10.86% (4,404) and the share of Pick-ups was 8.18% (3,320).

OVERVIEW OF 2016; 

According to January 2016 estimations of IMF World Economic Outlook Report, 2016 growth estimation for the World is 3.4%. The report suggests that 2016 growth rates of the U.S., pacemaker of the world economy will be 2.6%. It is also estimated that Turkish automotive industry exports to Europe which is crucial for the Turkish economy will increase 1.7% in 2016.

LMC Automotive, by 2015, 4th quarter, has published 2015 results and World passenger car market estimations for 2016. According to the 4th quarter results of 2015, 2015 World total passenger car market showed an increase of 1.0% in comparison to the last year and reached a number of 91.7 M. In 2016, World automotive market is expected to show an increase of 3.7% and reach a number of 95.1 M in comparison to the last year.

LMC Automotive, by 2015, 4th quarter, has published 2015 results and World automotive manufacture estimations for 2016. According to the 4th quarter results of LMC Automotive, 2015 World automotive manufacture showed an increase of 0.9% in comparison to the last year and reached a number of 91.6 M. In 2016, World automotive manufacture is expected to show an increase of 3.9% and reach a number of 95.1 M in comparison to the last year.

According to the Medium Term Program published in January 2016, Turkey's growth rate is expected to be around 4.5% in 2016. According to IMF estimations, Turkey's growth rate for 2016 is expected to be 3.2%.

We foresee that the automotive industry's total market for the year 2016 to be between 900 and 950 thousand in quantity.
