Official Start of Production: Celebration at the New Eberspaecher Plant Near Dresden
WILSDRUFF, Germany, May 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
Production at the new Eberspaecher plant in Wilsdruff, Saxony, has started up completely. In the presence of the Minister President of the Free State of Saxony, Stanislaw Tillich, the General Management of Eberspaecher celebrated the official start of production together with guests and employees. The new plant is customized especially to the production of commercial vehicle exhaust systems in accordance with the Euro 6 standard, which has been applicable for all commercial vehicles in Europe since 1 January 2014.
In his welcoming speech, Tillich highlighted the importance of the plant to the Free State of Saxony: "This investment demonstrates that Saxony is one of Europe's most attractive investment locations, particularly for automotive suppliers. A highly-skilled workforce and reliable partners in the areas of research, policy and administration work hand-in-hand in Saxony to create an environment in which the automotive industry can continue to flourish," said Tillich.
Heinrich Baumann, Managing Partner of the Eberspaecher Group, thanked all participants who have contributed towards implementing the project over the course of three and a half years since the start of construction. He especially emphasized the support given by the City and the State: "The close cooperative partnership with the public authorities is more than exemplary." Baumann stressed that the decision for the new site was the right one: "We were very warmly welcomed as a new company here and could find qualified staff for all functions."
The new plant in Wilsdruff is a firm part of the worldwide production network of the Eberspaecher Group. Every second new truck on the roads in Europe will be on the go with an exhaust system from Wilsdruff. More than 300 employees produce about 150,000 exhaust systems here annually. The site has more than 25,000 m² of production space as well as an integrated administration building.
The new commercial vehicle Euro 6 exhaust standard places very high requirements on exhaust-gas aftertreatment: more than 95 percent of the pollutants are eliminated. The exhaust systems weighing approx. 170 kilograms are technologically accordingly elaborate. The plant in Wilsdruff has a highly automated production facility which can be flexibly adapted to the special manufacturing requirements. Since last year, the site is certified in accordance with the ISO/TS 16949 quality standard, which is customary in this industry. An optimized logistics concept ensures a smooth flow: up to 100 tons of material are moved between goods receiving and shipping every day.
