According to Polish regulations, all public and private buildings must be equipped with M-to-M electricity meters by 2016. During the physical roll-out, one of the challenges will be optimizing the meter installation locations to ensure constant transmission of electricity consumption data, and to avoid costly investigations and interventions in the future due to insufficient network coverage.
To optimize the M-to-M meter installation process and to avoid potential customer complaints regarding grid coverage and connection, Orange offers a specific mobile application that analyzes and identifies the best location for these meters within buildings. Electricity companies need a reliable and user-friendly tool for their field engineers to determine where these data transmission devices should be installed.
Orange has created its own network performance testing application with the Equal One Software Development Kit (SDK). The application directly sends meaningful reports to mobiles. Employees can thus directly view network accessibility and performance, and identify the best locations for M-to-M meter installation.
This dedicated application has led to a significant decrease in complaints regarding network coverage and connections related to electricity metering. Avoiding problems during the installation phase is one of the most cost-effective ways to optimize the user experience, without any changes to network investments.
Orange stood out during the bidding phase with the ease of the application download, the simple interface, and nearly no customer complaints since the Equal One SDK app were used.
As Mariusz RYCHLIK, Agency Manager for Multimedia Device Expertise at Orange Poland explains, "EQual One SDK offers fast and straightforward development, which gives us flexibility that could be useful, for example, for delivering dedicated corporate apps, with employees using different devices in their daily tasks on the field."
"Whether it's through an app dedicated to device monitoring and employee support, or fully integrated into an existing corporate application, our SDK tailors the application to the performance measurement and optimization requirements of a group like Orange," says Ruth Stockinger, Area Sales Manager at V3D.
