Otis Elevator Company Announces Major Contract Win at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France

-- 10-year contract to maintain 105 units including 23 Gen2® elevators with energy-saving ReGen™ drives

FARMINGTON, Connecticut, Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Otis France, a unit of Otis Elevator Company and United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX), today announced that it has won a 10-year contract to maintain 105 units, including 23 Gen2® elevators with energy-saving ReGen™ drives, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. Otis has been the maintenance provider for the four buildings that comprise the European Parliament in Strasbourg since the main building, Louise Weiss, was completed in 1999.

The contract includes maintenance on 23 Gen2® elevators with ReGen™ drives, 43 Otis 2000 H elevators, 13 Otis escalators and 12 elevators that are handicap-accessible. The Gen2® elevator systems featuring ReGen™ drives reduce energy consumption by up to 75 percent compared to conventional systems with non-regenerative drives. In addition, the Gen2® system's flat, coated steel belts and gearless machine do not require any additional lubrication, making the system cleaner for the environment.
