Oxygen Forensic Suite 7.0 Recovers Deleted Files, Targets Windows Phone and CDR
ALEXANDRIA, Virginia, January 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Oxygen Forensics releases a major update to its flagship mobile forensic solution, Oxygen Forensic® Suite. Version 7.0 offers Android file carving, enables support for Call Data Records received from wireless service providers, and acquires data from Windows Phone 8.x JTAG images produced with third-party tools.
"Acquisition is a major stage in mobile forensics," says Oleg Fedorov, Oxygen CEO. "This release is not limited to adding support for yet another bunch of mobile devices. Instead, we are adding several new acquisition sources, allowing forensic experts to extract and recover information obtained from various sources."
Recovering Deleted Files from Android Devices
Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 offers expanded support for Android file carving, enabling experts to recover more deleted data from physical dumps of Android devices. By opting to perform physical acquisition of an Android device with Oxygen Forensic® Extractor, experts can now recover deleted photos, videos, XML and HTML files, and SQLite databases. The recovery is fully automated and performed in real time during the acquisition. The extended file carving option enables experts to recover many more types of destroyed evidence compared to the previous release.
Parsing Windows Phone 8.x JTAG images
Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 enables data parsing of Windows Phone 8.x JTAG images captured with third-party tools. All essential information is extracted including contacts with all relevant fields, calls, text and multimedia messages, emails and files.
In addition to system data, Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 parses data produced by popular applications including Here Maps, WhatsApp, Skype, etc. Deleted pictures, documents, databases, logs and other files are automatically recovered during the acquisition. By acquiring information contained in third-party JTAG images of Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 devices, Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 adds yet another acquisition source for the third popular mobile platform after Android and iOS.
Supporting Call Data Records
Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 includes the new Oxygen Forensic® Call Data Expert, a tool enabling experts importing and analyzing CDR files (Call Data Records) received from mobile service providers. The new tool supports Call Data Records in arbitrary formats regardless of the number of columns or file layouts. Oxygen Forensic® Call Data Expert offers convenient guidance through the entire process of importing call data and mapping the fields. By supporting Call Data Records, Oxygen Forensic® Suite 7.0 shows a much broader picture of suspects' activities compared to information extracted from mobile devices alone.
About Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014
Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 helps investigators and forensic specialists access and analyze data from a variety of mobile devices such as cell phones, smartphones, communicators, PDA and tablet PCs. Currently supporting more than 9,000 different models, Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 covers the widest range of mobile devices compared to competition, and allows fully automated acquisition and analysis of supported devices.
The unique Timeline feature offers convenient, single-place access to all activities and movements performed by one or several users arranged by date and time. Investigators can track user location at every moment, build and map their historic routes, and clearly see all activities performed by the user at each location.
Another signature feature of Oxygen Forensic Suite allows investigators to perform a global search on all devices ever analyzed with the toolkit. The global search quickly reveals any connections (e.g. common contacts, exchanged calls, texts or emails) between the phone owners.
Oxygen's statistical analysis tools allow investigators to discover social connections between the users of multiple mobile devices. Calls, text messages and various messengers' conversations are analyzed to produce charts and tables revealing the users' closest circle at a glance.
Oxygen Forensic Suite 2014 guarantees zero-footprint operation, leaving no traces and making no modifications to the content of the devices. This makes it the tool of choice among government and law enforcement agencies, security services, and forensic organizations in more than fifty countries.
