Ethical beauty retailer The Body Shop and proud headline sponsor of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert series at the Royal Albert Hall is excited to announce a seventh and final show on Monday 25th March headlined by longstanding supporter of the charity Paul Weller.
With nearly all shows sold out for 2013's Teenage Cancer Trust concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, curated by Noel Gallagher, a stellar line-up for the annual series of shows sees the likes of Ryan Adams, Kasabian, Primal Scream, Rizzle Kicks, Labrinth, Russell Brand, Noel Fielding and now Paul Weller take to the stage to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Both The Body Shop and Teenage Cancer Trust are committed to changing lives through positive activism and building self-esteem. They share the belief that Beauty is about looking good, feeling good and doing good and the concert series provides the perfect platform to bring this to life.
"The Body Shop is incredibly proud to be supporting Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall this year. The shows are a key event in the British music calendar and we're looking forward to bringing our mantra of Beauty With Heart to life through this fantastic collaboration and exciting week of music and comedy."
Simon Coble, General Manager, The Body Shop (UK)
The music and comedy shows are Teenage Cancer Trust's flagship event. The money raised makes a massive difference to the lives of thousands of young people with cancer across the UK through life-changing care and support. As the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting teenagers and young adults with cancer, Teenage Cancer Trust relies on the support of the general public to fund a range of services that aim to improve their quality of life and chances of survival.
Also just announced are some special guests for the shows running from Tuesday 19 to Monday 25 March. Kasabian are joined by newcomers Dark Horses, acclaimed band Palma Violets will support Paul Weller, and lastly Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys will open for Noel Gallagher for a very special show featuring performances from special guests including Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon. Beth Orton as previously announced will support Ryan Adams.
Noel Gallagher, a key supporter of the charity, was asked to get involved in curating the shows by Teenage Cancer Trust patron and frontman of The Who, Roger Daltrey CBE. Roger, currently on tour with The Who in America, has been the driving force behind the concerts which have raised over £15 million for Teenage Cancer Trust since they began in 2000. This is the first time he has invited anyone else to handpick the incredible line-up.
The past 18 months have seen Noel Gallagher win the NME Godlike Genius Award, Q Icon Award and gain a double platinum album. Noel said: "Teenage Cancer Trust do a brilliant job, and I've always been more than pleased to lend my support over the years. It's also now a charity that is very close to the hearts and minds of dozens of acts in the world of music. It's an honour to have the task of putting together the bills for this year's series of concerts at The Royal Albert Hall."
On being asked to headline Paul Weller said: "I'm looking forward to getting on stage for the final night of Teenage Cancer Trust at The Royal Albert Hall. I've always supported the charity and have seen first-hand how hard they work and what a huge difference it makes to the kids. When Noel asked me to headline I didn't hesitate."
As part of the partnership, The Body Shop have launched a charity single, Beauty With Heart, written and performed by British singer/songwriter Leddra Chapman; available to download from fairsharemusic.com for just 99p.
"I'm such a supporter of The Body Shop: they're an incredible brand and do some really amazing things for the greater good. I was thrilled when asked to write a song interpreting what Beauty With Heart means to me and even more so when I found out that all the proceeds are to go to Teenage Cancer Trust!"
