Hardware supply and support services from Peak-Ryzex have supported Aggreko's rapid growth over the last five years. The world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services selected Peak-Ryzex to procure, supply and support circa 2000 Motorola MC75 and MC75A handhelds. In addition, Wavelink Avalanche mobile device management (MDM) software was used to manage the mobile engineer devices in over 60 countries worldwide.

The mobile system enables instant processing of service orders, replacing a paper-based system that could take several days to process and close service orders. Since going live in 2010, the system has processed more than 750,000 service orders electronically saving the company time and labour, while improving customer service. To ensure the system runs smoothly, Peak-Ryzex provides a managed support service for the hardware and foundation software worldwide.
"This is a fantastic achievement for the entire Aggreko business, Aggreko Technology Services and Peak-Ryzex team. We've all worked together to make this electronic system a reality for our worldwide operations. I know that when we deploy to a site anywhere in the world Peak-Ryzex will have ensured the right device, with the right configuration will be at the right place at the right time. It allows us to concentrate on training and rolling out our mobile solution without worrying about the hardware and its operating system," says Kenny McLellan, Applications Services Manager, Aggreko Technology Services.
The MC75s replace paper documentation completely for Aggreko's mobile engineers. The handhelds host a number of mobile applications - products and bespoke developments that integrate with Aggreko's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system so that live information is available on demand. The system also works offline, which is key in some remote areas.
The engineers have a wide range of functionality available to them on the handhelds; they process all their service order activities on them (time, labour and parts used), they can send and receive email, generate and read barcode labels, they can log delivery and returns of equipment by scanning their barcode labels to instantly update the Aggreko Systems and record and process all distribution and inventory activity.
"Our investment in this system is also enabling us to provide service improvements for our customers by enabling us to be more efficient. The fact that we have been able to double the size of our business is the biggest compliment to the success of the system and our partnership with Peak-Ryzex. It is a good organisation in terms of customer focus and our close business relationship with our account manager ensures we get what we need and any issues are dealt with swiftly," says Kenny McLellan.
