Phillip Schofield to Open Sixth Form House at Queen Anne's School, Reading

A photo-call featuring television presenter Phillip Schofield will take place on Wednesday 12 October at 4.30pm. Phillip will officially open a new state-of-the-art Sixth Form House at Queen Anne's School. Holmes House is a new dedicated house for day and boarding students in the lower sixth form at the all-girls school in Caversham. A champagne reception and tours of Holmes will follow the opening ceremony.
The House is part of the Sixth Form package offered at Queen Anne's, which is designed to aid the transition between school and university life. Talking about the opening, Headmistress, Mrs Julia Harrington says: "We are extremely excited that Phillip Schofield is opening our new Sixth Form House. Holmes is a fantastic facility and will not only aid the education development of our students but also aid the transition between school and university life."
Holmes House is home to 73 day and boarding students. The facilities include en-suite twin and single bedrooms, dedicated study rooms, an IT workroom, a large sitting room for socialising and a large kitchen to enable the students to cook their meals, further preparing for life at university.
Also attending the opening will be The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Debbie Edwards. The House has taken a year to complete and is part one of a £5million building project, the second part of which will be completed in September 2012 when a new Junior Boarding House will open.
