Lighthouse Mobile launches new personal safety app, Neurosky announces brainwave device and Misfit releases a world first in digital fitness
Lighthouse Mobile Solutions, a company specialising in the creation of mobile security applications, has announced the launch of its brand new app, designed to bring a whole new level of personal safety to mobile devices.
The new Emergency Alert Beacon application will be available for both Android and iOS users, and works as a phone-based alarm system for cautious individuals and travellers alike. Users can utilise the app to notify their nominated loved ones of their location, as well as immediately and discreetly raise the alarm if they find themselves in trouble.
The app also comes with an emergency mode, which sends a panic text to five nominated contacts when pressed once, and places a call to the emergency services when pressed a second time. Both UK and US users can install the app, which costs just £1.49 ($1.99) from the iTunes Store.
Neurosky, a leading provider of consumer-ready "brain-computer" interface technology, has revealed two new cutting-edge products enabling consumers to experience the true potential of brain power.
The first new product is the Necomimi, a device designed to replicate the look and feel of cat ears, allowing owners to express their thoughts and feelings through the moving parts. The ears perk up if the user becomes interested or engaged, or droop when relaxed. Secondly, Neurosky has launched the MindWave Mobile device, giving users the opportunity to interact with their Android or iOS device without lifting a finger. Brainwaves are transmitted from a headset via Bluetooth, allowing users to interact with several companion mobile applications.
Misfit Wearables, a start-up company focusing on the production of wearable technology, has released the world's first all-metal wireless fitness device, allowing owners to track their daily movements and record their progress.
Misfit Shine has been launched to much praise for its innovative design and its ability to automatically sync to any iPhone without the need for wires or buttons. Once operational, the device measures all types of movement from jogging to cycling, before displaying the results in an easy-to-digest format on the phone's screen. Owners can even use the gadget to measure their swimming performance, thanks to its sleek, waterproof design. The product will become available in 2013 for around $99.
