Goal-setting app launched, childs emergency wristwatches on the horizon and LG gets ready for CES 2013 with new Smart TVs
A new, free game that encourages players to discover and attain new goals in their everyday life has just been launched for iPhone and android devices.
GoalWorthy, created by social media app development studio CrossComm, Inc., combines social media and gaming to provide users with a platform to set themselves goals. Goals can be accepted from an online GoalWorthy community or contributed by players themselves, with each goal receiving a certain 'worth' (i.e. token number of points) dependant on a voting system.
Players can follow one another's goal activity, provide feedback and encouragement along the way and gift 'badges' as a symbol of recognition of the goal being achieved. The release of the game, which is available for free download now, is timely as many people typically set themselves goals and resolutions at the start of the year.
A newly-patented wristwatch might change the way we look after children, as well as the way emergency services respond to incidents.
In addition to telling the time, the LEO, created by inventor, Jason Sullivan, carries a 911-GPS emergency locator as well as voice communication technology and a panic button. The watch is designed to help parents and emergency services respond to children as efficiently as possible when they are in danger. The LEO will allow parents to use a web-based interface to locate their child in moments, and notify the adults when an unauthorised attempt has been made to remove it from a wrist.
Although the wristwatch has yet to enter full-scale production, it has received a strong reaction on crowdfunding website Whenyouwish.com and been named by Inc. Magazine as "Most Likely to Succeed".
Next week's 2013 International CES will see a fresh new line-up of Smart TVs exhibited, courtesy of LG Electronics (LG).
From their huge 84-inch Ultra HD to their 55-inch OLED TVs, LG have a diverse range of new models to show off, as an updated Magic Remote, designed for simpler navigation and channel-surfing. An enhanced Home Dashboard interface employs the use of apps to provide seamless access to online content, whilst Voice Mate will allow viewers to use their own voices to control the Smart TV and search for content.
The new line of Smart TVs will also use an advanced recommendation function named On Now, which will suggest both on-demand and broadcast content that is currently trending.
