Gore tips Turkcell for success, HDS announces Russia tie-up and celebrities back "6 Days of Good for Hunger" online campaign
Former US Vice President Al Gore has used his speech at the Turkcell Leaders Summit this week to tip the company for global success. Turkcell, Turkey's foremost provider of communications and technology services, has already proven its credentials by being amongst the first mobile networks in the world to launch a HSPA+ service to customers, and Mr. Gore firmly believes that they will continue to deliver "success in information technologies" for years to come.
Mr. Gore went on to say that both Turkcell and the Turkish nation will go on to "shape the future" in terms of technological advances in the coming years, with Turkcell CEO Sureyya Ciliv confirming the company's intention to continue collaborating with business leaders to improve its services worldwide.
HDS International, a leading provider of green technology and renewable energy solutions, has announced an agreement with the Russian "Kurchatov Institute" that will boost the company's research and development capabilities in a number of cutting-edge green technologies.
The two organisations have already taken steps to identify areas of common interest, with the ultimate aim of making advanced carbon capture and other energy efficiency measures a commercial viability in the not too distant future. The Kurchatov Institute has been responsible for a number of green advances in the Russian Federation, and this tie-up is expected to see these put to use across the planet.
SixDegrees.org, a popular website that encourages the use of social networks for charitable means, has announced the launch of its "6 Days of Good for Hunger" campaign, with help from global celebrities Kevin Bacon and Jeff Bridges. The campaign encourages participants to use the site to create "social charitable campaigns" aimed at eradicating child hunger, with the campaign that generates the most donations awarded a $6,000 bonus.
6 Days of Good is set to be the first of many campaigns for the site, with co-creator Kevin Bacon believing it is a vital method of "raising awareness about this critical issue". Whilst anti-child hunger campaigns will be at the heart of this new development, the site's owners hope to encourage members to increase the number of campaigns for charities of all types, and increase the number of online donations received via social networks.
