Chinese game developer scoops award, free online sci-fi game hits iOS devices and IMP release trio of educational apps for children
A game developing organisation has achieved an industry first by becoming the first Chinese company to see one of its games achieve international recognition in a prestigious line-up of awards.
Torchlight II, produced by Runic Games - majority owned by the Chinese company Perfect World - won 'Best Role Playing Game (RPG) of 2012' in popular media website IGN's round-up of the best PC games of 2012.
Commenting on its pick of Torchlight II in the category, IGN particularly commended the game's "excellent skill design" and its upgrading system. Another well regarded gaming website, Massively said that Torchlight II "should win a place in every possible 'best of' list, as it is really a remarkable game."
The English-language version of the game has been available since September 20th 2012 and has enjoyed a good reception from critics and gamers alike.
In other gaming news, established developer Digiarty Software has officially launched the first online science fiction game to hit iOS.
Entitled Space Settlers, Digiarty's new game focuses on themes such as time, dark matter and the discovery of the God Particle in 2012. Amongst its features are real-time strategy, fortress attack and planet exploration. As an online game, it allows for interactive chat between multiple players taking part in intense battles together.
Requiring only 63.1MB of space on an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, Space Settlers is small in size, easy enough for even complete newcomers to pick up and join in and completely free to download from the iTunes store.
Also available for download onto iOS devices are a new selection of apps designed to help children learn whilst keeping them entertained.
International Masters Publishers Ltd. and their digital subsidiary IMP Interactive have just formally announced the release of its three latest Kids Learning Apps: Great Bible Adventures, Monsterfacts and The World of Fairytales.
The three apps are all designed to add entertainment and adventure into children's education, aiding them as they develop basic skills such as reading, speaking and counting. They are all also connected via a platform called Famloop which allows parents or other family members to interact using their own smartphones or iPads to view a child's progress and offer encouragement.
International Masters Publishers has 40 years worth of experience in the multinational literary and publication industry. The company is generally thought of as a leader in the field, with publications that are widely considered to be a cut above the rest due to the high quality of their content.
