Yelp launches in Poland, IGT announces AMD powered games and LG to release market leading phone
Yelp, an international provider of local search services, has announced its expansion into Poland this week, providing Polish nationals and businesses with the facility to find and rate local businesses and attractions.
The launch of Yelp.pl means that the company now offers a full range of services in 19 different countries, in a variety of different languages. Yelp is hoping to take advantage of the strength and stability of the Polish economy, which managed to survive the financial crisis largely unscathed, whilst simultaneously increasing the education and affluence of its population. Speaking after the launch, Yelp's Vice President of New Markets, Miriam Warren, expressed her excitement, stating that the international community can now benefit from "discovering the latest and greatest [sites] from the local residents".
International Game Technology (IGT), a world leader in casino gaming technology, is set to announce a new range of devices that incorporate the new AMD Radeon graphics processor, allowing the company to provide customers with a cutting edge, feature rich gaming experience.
The new chip will allow IGT to create both high definition and 3D gaming options, giving players what IGT spokesman Jim Vasquez describes as "an enhanced level of entertainment that ranges from interactive touch screens to multimedia displays". The company announced the new product range at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas this week, with new titles expected to launch later in the year.
LG Electronics, a leading manufacturer of consumer electronics, has announced the launch of the new LG Optimus G smartphone, containing the world's first quad-core LTE / Qualcomm Snapdragon combination.
The inclusion of the super-fast Qualcomm processor will enable LG to deliver quick, high quality graphics, whilst the LTE feature will give users the opportunity to take advantage of mobile download speeds of up to 70mbps, depending on their operator. The company has utilised all of the latest advances in smartphone technology, including a high definition camera, long-life battery and ultra-thin screen to create a powerful business and personal device.
According to LG USA's Senior Vice President of Market Operations, James Fishler, LG has "carefully designed a new "superphone" that encourages users to step beyond everyday boundaries and explore a limitless world of power and creativity". The device will use the Android operating system and launch later in the year.
