Under the guidance of Editor-in-Chief W. Robert Lee, MD, MS, MEd, Practical Radiation Oncology aims to improve the quality of radiation oncology practice. PRO will provide background for those in training and continuing education for practitioners, through discussion and illustration of new techniques and evaluation of current practices.
"Practical Radiation Oncology will serve as a worldwide forum for radiation oncologists. I look forward with great enthusiasm to guiding PRO in its mission of disseminating the most up-to-date information to its audience and making it a must-read in the radiation oncology community," Dr. Lee commented.
PRO will complement ASTRO's other official journal, the International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics (the Red Journal). While the Red Journal will continue to describe new discoveries in the field, PRO will provide a context on such discoveries for its readers, and immediately usable information. PRO will be distributed to ASTRO members as a benefit of membership, along with the Red Journal.
"Elsevier is proud to continue its partnership with ASTRO in providing invaluable information for the radiation oncology community," said Mary Heffner, journal publisher. "We are impressed with the inaugural issue that ASTRO has put together, and pleased to help disseminate this high-quality content to its members and a global readership," she added.
