Premier League Title is Staying in Manchester Says Betfred Boss
MANCHESTER, England, August 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Manchester United fan and bookmaker Fred Done believes the Premier League title is staying in Manchester.
Fred Done famously paid out early on Manchester United winning the league last year in early April only for Man City to pip his beloved team on goal difference in a dramatic final day. This was not the first time he had done it as he was first ever bookmaker to pay out early in March 1998 when Manchester United were twelve points clear only to be overtaken by Arsenal.
Fred Done said,
"I've had a lot of stick this summer from both halves of Manchester with reds saying I jinxed it, and the blue half of Manchester saying I was arrogant. However I would pay out early now on the title staying in Manchester. I'm just not sure who will be crowned champions with the head saying City and the heart saying United."
Man City are solid favourites to retain their title at 5/4 and the biggest bet the bookmaker has taken is £40,000 on Mancini's men keeping their crown. However since the signing of Robin Van Persie Manchester United have seen some support and have been shortened to 2/1 from 9/4.
Bookie Fred Done added,
"Chelsea have strengthened well but I can't see them doing it, Arsenal are absolutely friendless and I have never known them to be so big for the Premier League at 16/1, and as for Liverpool although one punter has had £10,000 each way at 33/1 that money will once again be paying for my holidays."
