A Delegation from PHCC in Qatar led by Managing Director, Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik will be attending the annual primary care conference hosted by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) in Liverpool following receipt of an official invitation.

The Delegation led by Managing Director, Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik will include:

  • Executive Director of Operation  - Dr. Samya Al-Abdullah
  • Executive Director of Training and Workforce Development- Dr. Zulaikha Al Wahidi
  • Executive Director Assistant for Service Development- Dr. Hamad Al Madahka
  • Director of Scientific Research- Dr. Hamda Qutba

As well as a group of counselors and medical specialists from PHCC.

The theme of the conference, which takes place on the 12 - 14 October 2017, will be "Forward Together: How we lead primary care to the next level." The annual conference will discuss the most prominent scientific developments in primary care, with more than 46 panel discussions and lectures focusing on topics including national health strategies, diabetes, cancer, mental health, the importance of physical activities in changing lifestyle and its impact on disease prevention and health promotion. In addition to presenting the latest developments in the field of health technology, as well as the development of workforce, ongoing education and scientific research.

The Qatari delegation attendance of the conference is in correlation to the lead up of Qatar's own 3rd Primary Care Conference, which will take place from 17 to 19 November 2017. Hosted by PHCC, the International Conference will be held in Doha under the patronages of Her Excellency the Minister of Public Health- Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari.

The theme of the 2107 Qatari Conference will be Healthier Communities, Brighter Future; Topics covered including Health Systems and Quality Improvement, Clinical Management and Practice, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and Education, Training and Capacity Building.

The conference will bring together inspiring speakers and experts from across the globe, including Kuwait, Oman, UK and Canada as well as the President of the International Association of Family Physicians and a group of dignitaries.

During the Qatari delegation visit, a meeting will be held between the Dr. Mariam Abdul Malik and the Head of the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Director of International Projects at the College, President Terry Kemple.

The meeting will discuss existing cooperation between the two organizations as well the developments in primary care, sharing best practices on international conferences and advancements around training programs for healthcare professionals. This follows years of collaboration between the two parties involving the re-verification of qualifications of medical advisers working in Qatar in line with international standards of medical practice and in coordination with the Qatar's Ministry of Public Health.
