RAN Perspectives adds valuable RAN awareness to a mobile operators' network intelligence, dramatically reducing their deployment of probes and the costs associated with drive testing while expanding their visibility into the RAN in real-time to gain insight and take action.
"Mobile operators exist in an extremely competitive environment that makes customer experience very important, both to reduce churn and also to rollout and assure the quality of high-value services that consumers will pay extra for," said Anil Rao, senior analyst, service assurance at Analysys Mason. "RAN data and intelligence on roaming customers' service quality is of critical importance for operators looking to improve the subscriber experience and further monetize their infrastructure investments."
"RAN Perspectives was developed to solve one of the biggest challenges for mobile operators, providing real-time location and quality information in a cost-effective manner that they can use to deliver higher quality mobile broadband services," said Alexander Haväng, CTO of Procera Networks. "RAN Perspectives is the first Procera product designed specifically for mobile Subscriber quality of experience, and integrates tightly into our existing PacketLogic solutions, including our Customer Care Insights offering that can now deliver real-time forensics on the RAN connection as well as on the data connection for mobile devices."
"The proliferation of mobile devices coupled with the expanding use of data-intensive applications such as mobile video has led to increasing congestion in the RAN that can dramatically reduce subscriber QoE," said Shira Levine, directing analyst, Service Enablement and Subscriber Intelligence at Infonetics Research. "A device-based solution such as RAN Perspectives has the potential to more effectively manage congestion while enabling a broad array of additional services, solutions and applications, which could have dramatic implications for mobile networks."
RAN Perspectives is a Subscriber Experience solution that integrates into a PacketLogicTM deployment providing real-time location and RAN quality information that can be leveraged to enhance the mobile experience. Unlocking real-time location awareness and RAN signal quality measurements opens up a number of operational and service opportunities that Procera will roll out over the next 12 months, with the initial offerings including:
- Customer Care Insights solution with integrated RAN and IP mobile broadband-centric subscriber diagnostics for customer care teams.
- RAN Perspectives-based view for Insights that delivers analytics for quality, congestion, applications, and out-of-coverage hotspots in the mobile network for marketing and engineering teams.
- RAN congestion management based on real-time location awareness to identify and take action on congested areas, enhancing subscriber QoE.
- Location-based service plan offerings including location-specific policy enforcement and charging for marketing teams.
