The Protection & Management Series 2014, organised by UBM Live, is pleased to announce its huge success following the first year at ExCeL London. The Protection & Management Series 2014, which brings together IFSEC International, FIREX International, Facilities Show, Energy & Environment Expo, Safety & Health Expo and Service Management Expo, opened with a record-breaking first day as 19,544 visitors swarmed through the doors, a huge increase of 23 per cent on 2013. The phenomenal visitor turn-out was particularly impressive given two of the events, IFSEC International and FIREX International, reduced their duration from four days to three days in 2014. This clearly demonstrates that the Protection & Management Series is the go-to place for sourcing the latest products and innovations and discovering expertise across security, fire, facilities, safety and energy. More than 1,700 exhibitors showcased their latest solutions and offered visitors the chance to get hands-on with interactive features.
The UK leads the world in fire prevention, safety standards, security systems and facilities management, and this was demonstrated by the huge 25 per cent increase in international visitors attending, from 172 countries around the world. Recognising that this is the place for keeping up to speed on the industry as well as sourcing the latest products, visitors had access to more than 400 hours of free education from 500 speakers across 32 seminar theatres around the venue. This was supported by the IOSH Conference, taking place alongside Safety & Healthy Expo for the first time.
Catering for every professional within building management and protection, customer experience was a core focus for 2014. Initiatives introduced to the 40,000 attendees included: 75 show makers across the venue to help visitors navigate their way around each event, buskers entertaining visitors upon entry to the venue, free wifi available to all attendees, a Series-wide app providing access to all education in one place, and a Series-wide catalogue to aid buyers in identifying suppliers across all six events. Live TV was also broadcast from IFSEC International and FIREX International for the first time, broadcasting directly from the show floor to 21 screens around ExCeL and online, generating 29,995 registered streams online.
Commenting on the success of the Protection & Management Series taking place at ExCeL, Jeremy Rees, Executive Director at ExCeL London said: "The Protection & Management Series taking place at ExCeL has been a fantastic addition to our portfolio. This is one of the largest series of events to take place at the venue at one time and it came to life with the volume of visitors that were coming through the doors. London's unique international connectivity has enabled the event to thrive. We are looking forward to 2015 and delighted to be working with UBM on such a prestigious series of events."
The rebook rate onsite across the Protection & Management Series reached an all-time high, achieving a 7 per cent increase on 2013. This high demand from exhibitors confirmed that this series of events is the place to be in 2015 and beyond. IFSEC International alone has already rebooked 87 per cent of the floor plan. Commenting on the success of 2014, Graeme Hughes, Managing Director at Innovise Software, who exhibited in both the IFSEC International and Facilities Show, said: "The Protection & Management Series lived up to its expectations and we enjoyed a great few days of networking and trading. The move to London ExCeL has rejuvenated the show, opening up the opportunity for many more people to attend which in turn creates the atmosphere that you would expect from one of the industry's leading events. Well done to the UBM team."
Confirming the triumph of Protection & Management Series 2014, Simon Mills, Group Director, UBM Live said: "After two years of preparation, this is a euphoric moment and we've been thrilled with the results, particularly around the huge influx of international visitors. We take care in researching what these industries need, what the future trends are and how we can successfully match those demands. We've responded by providing an innovative platform for new products to be launched, industry insight to be gained and for valuable business leads to be generated. This has been a fantastic inaugural year at ExCeL and provided a great benchmark for us to continue to build upon."
The Protection & Management Series also successfully retained its ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management. The 2014 Series achieved a significant reduction in printed materials with a resulting reduction in impact, increased focus on procuring sustainably through recycled paper choices, and a commitment to CRASH and Giving World ensuring a positive and lasting impact on communities. The Protection & Management Series continues to drive sustainability throughout the business and will continually focus on positive engagement to ensure the event's continual improvements against the ISO 20121 Standard.
