The company may be only nine years old but it is already a major player within the Oil and Gas training industry, having earlier achieved accreditation from both the International Well Control Forum (IWCF) and Offshore Petroleum Industry Training (OPITO).
CEO Bui Thanh Van said he was delighted to receive the BWM award on behalf of his dedicated team of employees.
He added: "Recognition for hard work is always appreciated and we will continue in our efforts to provide a top-rated service to clients around the world. It's how we managed to build our reputation so quickly in such a competitive industry in the first place."
A subsidiary of PetroVietnam Drilling and Well Services Corporation, PVD Training boasts three core business areas - Training and Certification, Manpower Solutions and Petroleum & Marine Technical Services. Their secret for survival in a sector where plummeting oil companies have caused so many companies to sink in recent years, is all mostly thanks to a dedicated diversification strategy.
Top notch resources help too, of course. The Well Control Training Facility for which the company picked up the BWM award comprises a 100-square-meter and a 300-square-meter swimming pool for Offshore Safety Training, an open fire yard for Fire Fighting Training, a 1000 square metre technical workshop, Marine & Life Raft workshop and an IWCF Well Control Simulator. This is combined with relaxation rooms and saunas.
A spokesman for BWM said: "We were extremely impressed on seeing the facilities offered by PVD Training. It takes a lot of courage for a company in an industry which has been flailing in recent years to invest so heavily in resources. It's a move which smacks of confidence and a belief in its employees."
As well as providing training and officially-recognised certification, the company are also helping to bridge the gap between oil companies forced to slash budgets and employees who have been 'let go' from their contracts.
Diversification also comes in the form of a focus on other sectors, especially the Marine and Construction industries, taking in ship-building and mining. Courses are available in Scaffolding and Steel Fabrication, for instance, as well as Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering. They have also teamed up with manufacturers of lifeboats and launches to provide dedicated courses for those particular products.
