QS Extends its Collaboration With Elsevier for its World University Rankings
AMSTERDAM, June 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Elsevier's Scopus data to be used for QS' analyses and evaluation of global research
QS, the leading global career and education network, and Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced they will extend their cooperation. Elsevier will continue to provide the data as well as offer analytical services for QS's rankings, including its flagship QS World University Rankings®, QS Top 50 under 50, QS University Rankings Asia, BRICs and Latin America.
The data Elsevier will provide will continue to come from Scopus while the analytical services will come from SciVal - both are part of the Elsevier Research Intelligence portfolio. Access to Scopus data will allow QS to analyze a maximum amount of research activity across the globe. Being able to additionally draw on SciVal, QS will have access to Elsevier's latest research analyses and metrics which will offer meaningful and balanced ways by which universities can be compared.
"QS was the first of the global rankings compilers to identify Scopus as an excellent source of data to assess research activity and excellence of universities globally," explained Ben Sowter, Head of QS Division Intelligence Unit. "Since 2007, Elsevier has been an accommodating and cooperative partner; this renewal of our collaboration represents a deepening of our working relationship and we are looking forward to exploring some of the new opportunities that it brings."
"Over the years QS has expanded their range of university rankings to cover the growing range of universities around the world," said Nick Fowler, Managing Director Research Management. "In this way QS provides prospective students with a broad view of the individual strengths of each university. We are pleased to offer Scopus data as well as our analytical services through SciVal to help QS achieve their business goals."
