Raytheon Glenrothes wins guidance systems upgrades
LONDON, Sept. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon in Glenrothes has been awarded a £7M contract to provide further GPS assisted inertial navigation (GAINS) units as part of a significant international order for the Enhanced Paveway™ II weapon system.
Raytheon in Glenrothes is a technology leader in the design and manufacture of power supplies, which are an integral part of the GAINS units. Since the beginning of the programme, more than 8,000 GAINS units have been manufactured.
In addition to the order for the Enhanced Paveway™ II systems, Raytheon Glenrothes is under contract to produce the guidance electronics assemblies for the new Excalibur Ib artillery system which have to be capable of withstanding enormous G-forces when the shell leaves the barrel.
