ATLANTA, October 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
"Superheroes of Nursing" shows appreciation to nurses; contest received 62 nominations and 1,355 votes on Facebook during four-month period
Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, announced today the winners of the Mosby's Nursing Suite "Superheroes of Nursing," a contest aimed to search and identify the real-life superheroes in the nursing profession. Launched during Nurses Week 2011 (May 6-12), the contest was part of a nationwide campaign to recognize nurses who represent four key categories - The Validators, The Achievers, The Educators and The Protectors - and identify how they address the issues they face daily.
"Nurses face so many challenges in their every day job, and we wanted to show our appreciation and recognize those who battle for their patients and organizations - the true superheroes," said Cindy Tryniszewski, RN, MSN, Executive Director, Mosby's eLearning for Elsevier. "We received an overwhelming amount of nominations and votes, and hope that nurses continue to celebrate their peers and share their stories on our Facebook page."
The winners are as follows:
- The Validator: Judy McHugh, Nursing Quality Improvement Coordinator at Loyola University Medical Center, Chicago, Ill.
- The Achiever: Amy Richardson, Charge RN at Maury Regional Medical Center, Columbia, Tenn.
- The Educator: Ronald Oman, Educator at Grays Harbor Community Hospital Aberdeen, Wash.
- The Protector: April Morris, Charge Nurse Neonatal Intensive Care at Woman's Hospital, Baton Rouge, La.
Winners will be congratulated and recognized at the Elsevier booth, Booth 901 during the 2011 American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Conference, Baltimore, Md., October 4-6.
