The message was made up from all of the twelve European players' names - listing Seve as the 13th man to make it a record-breaker - and was delivered to tie in with the start of the team's dramatic and nail-biting comeback. The full text took up approximately 70million sq ft of sky, designed to break the current record by at least 10million sq ft, and could be seen for 20 miles.
Millions of Ryder Cup viewers enjoyed clips of the regular sky-writing during the weekend's coverage - with the campaign trending on Twitter for most of the competition. Paddy Power's twitter feed (@paddypower) called on European supporters all weekend to submit messages with the hashtag 'goeurope', a selection of which were sky-written by stunt pilots flying at 10,000ft in the world's first Twitter campaign of its kind. Over 55 tweets were delivered in total.
Says Paddy Power, "We could see from the coverage that our sky tweets had been a hit with both the players and fans - but we wanted to do something really special for the final day to try and give the team a lift. We didn't stop believing in Olazabal and the guys and we'd like to think our continued delivery of the tweets from home played a part in a stunning triumph that will be remembered for years to come."
