- Manchester United Players Dominate Top 10 List With Combined Net Worth of £111 million

LONDON, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Manchester United and England forward Wayne Rooney is the wealthiest English-born footballer in the English Premier League (EPL) with an estimated net worth of £45 million (US$73 million), according to a Wealth-X top 10 list that includes three other players from his team.

Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Ashley Young also made the list for "The Red Devils", bringing the combined net worth of these four teammates to £111 million (US$182 million).

At 35, Ferdinand and Frank Lampard from Chelsea are the oldest players on the list. The youngest is Manchester City midfielder James Milner, who is 27 years old, one year younger than Rooney and his teammate Ashley Young.

Rooney earns approximately £250,000 (US$410,000) a week before taxes on his current contract, and also rakes in money from endorsement deals with companies including Nike and book publisher HarperCollins.
