SC Johnson's 125-Year Commitment to Being a Best Place to Work Recognized by Inaugural Great Place to Work Global List
RACINE, Wisconsin, October 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
Company Ranks 10th on World's First Global Workplace Excellence List
SC Johnson has been ranked number 10 on the World's Best Multinational Workplaces, a newly-issued list from the Great Place to Work® Institute. This recognition demonstrates the company's long-standing commitment to creating great workplaces for people around the globe.
"As a family company, SC Johnson has always been committed to being a best place to work, and receiving this recognition is an honor," said Fisk Johnson, Chairman and CEO of SC Johnson. "But even more importantly, it is such a wonderful testament to the nearly 13,000 members of the SC Johnson family around the world who work so hard every day to make the company a success."
The company's ranking is based, in part, on the number of its subsidiaries that were recognized as a Best Company in their country between September 2010 and August 2011, including Argentina, Canada, Central America, Chile, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Poland, the U.S. and Venezuela. Qualifying companies must have appeared on at least five national Great Place to Work lists, have at least 5,000 employees worldwide, and at least 40 percent of their global workforce must work outside of the company's home country.
"SC Johnson is a global leader when it comes to creating a great workplace," said Jose Tolovi, Jr., Global CEO of Great Place to Work®. "Across the globe and over many years, they have demonstrated their commitment to constantly improving their employees' workplaces, experiences and lives."
SC Johnson offers an array of opportunities and benefits that are seen as competitive in each local marketplace. Among them are more than 170 e-learning opportunities, paid sabbaticals, six months of maternity leave, as well as paternity and adoption leave. The global headquarters campus in Racine, Wis., also offers a fitness and aquatic center as well as a state-of-the-art Childcare Learning Center. SC Johnson has also received accolades from Working Mother Magazine as one of the 100 Best Companies for Working Moms; DiversityInc as one of the Top 50 Companies for Diversity®; FORTUNE magazine's top companies for best benefits, including work-life balance and telecommuting; and received 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index for eight consecutive years.
"For 125 years, SC Johnson has remained committed to doing what's right for the families who use its products and the people who create them," said Pascale Meyran, Senior Vice President, Global Human Resources, SC Johnson. "It's the right thing to do for families and for the business, and we fully believe that by offering great work environments in the local and global communities in which we operate, the company overall is more competitive."
This is the first year for the list of the World's Best Multinational Workplaces. Since launching the first Best Companies to Work For® lists in partnership with FORTUNE magazine in the U.S. and with Exame in Brazil in 1997, Great Place to Work® now recognizes leading workplaces in more than 45 countries. The World's Best Multinational Workplaces list is the first integrated look at survey data from employees and managers from thousands of companies across six continents; making it the world's largest annual study of workplace excellence.
