SciFinder® and ChemDraw® Software Connection Now Available to Customers
-- ChemBioDraw Ultra 14 software users can easily launch SciFinder to access the most comprehensive and authoritative chemistry content
COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the world's authority for chemical information, and PerkinElmer, have officially released their shared research solution, pairing SciFinder, the choice for chemistry research™, with ChemDraw® software, the drawing tool of choice for chemists.
The ChemDraw platform is a digital drawing tool for chemists and biologists to create publication-ready, scientifically intelligent drawings for use in ELNs, databases and publications. SciFinder is a research discovery application that provides integrated access to the world's most comprehensive and authoritative source of references, substances and reactions in chemistry and related sciences, which are collected, organized and indexed by CAS scientists.
"Providing customers access to SciFinder from within the ChemBioDraw Ultra platform was an innovative step to keep scientists at the forefront of pioneering research," said Karen Madden, president, informatics, PerkinElmer. "We developed a seamless interaction between these two industry-leading products and are excited to see reactions from our customers."
This collaboration between two industry innovators, first announced in December 2013, allows users to draw a structure using the ChemBioDraw Ultra 14 offering and then initiate a SciFinder session to search the structure. ChemBioDraw Ultra software automatically detects whether the structure is a single substance, or the reactant or product of a reaction. Researchers can now save considerable time when using both products.
"CAS is committed to bringing its authoritative chemical and related science content to researchers wherever they need it," said Christine McCue, vice president of marketing at CAS. "Combining the power of PerkinElmer's ChemDraw software with SciFinder presented a fantastic opportunity for both organizations to work together on a research solution that benefits users of both products and helps researchers with their everyday work."
