Secretary Kerry invited to two-state solution Knesset Caucus by MK Bar

TEL AVIV, Israel, June 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The OneVoice Movement's role in advocating for a two-state solution and an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues with its support for a meeting between U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Deputy Speaker of the Knesset and Chair of the Caucus for Ending the Israeli-Arab Conflict, MK Hilik Bar.

In his letter to Secretary Kerry, MK Bar issued an invitation to Secretary Kerry to address the Caucus, and cites the Secretary's recent speech at the American Jewish Committee (AJC), noting that the Caucus stands with Kerry in the quest for Two States for Two Peoples. 

"We agree…that cynicism has never solved anything and that there exists no other solution than the Two-State Solution. You asked the audience there [at AJC] to seize the moment and make the most out of it; we here in the Knesset aim to do just that," the letter said.

OneVoice continues to be an instrumental grassroots and advocacy partner supporting the efforts of the Caucus, which was launched May 20. More than one-third of MKs support the Caucus, spanning the political spectrum from Meretz to Shas. The Caucus is currently the largest of its kind in the Israeli parliament and was also co-founded by the Israeli Peace Initiative.

The Caucus' formation coincides with a reaffirmation of the Arab Peace Initiative (API) by the Arab League.

"While the regional turmoil afflicting our neighbors creates a new and challenging environment, the lack of a genuine effort to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict demands from us all bold actions that cannot wait," the letter continued.

"In that vein we want to extend our invitation to you to come and speak to us when you are next in Jerusalem," it concluded.

With the assistance of OneVoice and its partners, the Caucus will seek to utilize legislation, political meetings, and public events to promote effective efforts to resuscitate the peace process.
