Seiko Instruments Extends Quartz Crystal Line-up With Small-Sized, Ultra-Thin SCX Series
NEU ISENBURG, Germany, July 17, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Seiko Instruments has released the new ceramic SMD quartz crystal SC-32S. This miniaturized 32.768kHz quartz crystal is 100% Pb-free and suitable for automatic and high density surface mounting.
Quartz crystals are used as precise clock generators for low power systems like watches and other real-time clock (RTC) applications, watchdog timers (WDT) and for the secondary clock function of microprocessors in standby and sleep mode to minimize power consumption.
SC-32S is the first model of new SCX Series with very small (3.2 x 1.5mm) and thin (0.75mm) package size and it is available with a load capacitance of 7pF, 9pF or 12.5pF.
The SCX quartz crystals use a tuning-fork resonator processed in a photolithographic technology, which assures high reliability, low aging (3ppm/year) and excellent shock and heat resistance. Ion gun trimming method allows very tight frequency tolerance over a wide temperature range (-40°C to +85°C).
