SEKO Logistics Joins Gandys Flip Flops' Charity Campaign to Build an Orphanage in India
LONDON, July 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
SEKO Logistics is adding its support to a charity set up by two brothers orphaned in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami to give children in India access to education, health and nutritional care.
Rob and Paul Forkan set up their 'Orphans for Orphans' charity in partnership with The Mango Tree Trust, a fantastic children's charity in Goa. Their aim is to ensure a brighter future for fellow orphans in less developed countries, where help from friends and family isn't always available, and to ultimately open their own orphanage in 2014 in memory of their parents, Kevin and Sandra. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the tsunami, which claimed over 230,000 lives in 14 countries.
In the meantime, they are donating 10% of the profits from their Gandys Flip Flops business to The Mango Tree Trust, which is helping to provide children with an education and simultaneously provide them with much-needed healthcare and nutrition. In one year of selling flip flops, Gandys has donated enough money to Mango Tree to provide school supplies for 100 children and to fund their teacher for a whole year!
As the supply chain partner of Gandys Flip Flops, SEKO Logistics is making a donation for every logistics shipment it manages for the company. Gandys Flip Flops are sold through major high street retailers and online fashion sites, including House of Fraser, Schuh, Soletrader and ASOS as well as on the brand's own website http://www.gandysflipflops.com
Rob Forkan, Managing Director of Gandys Flip Flops, said: "SEKO Logistics has been a great help to us so far, with support and advice on how to make the most of our supply chain. We're really happy that SEKO has taken this step to contribute to Orphans for Orphans as it helps us to continue our mission of giving hope and help to deprived children."
Dean Townsend, Director of SEKO Logistics' local office in Hook, UK, added: "The Gandys Flip Flops brand is driven by the brothers' passion to make a difference and we're only too happy to help them to improve the lives of orphaned children in India."
