SGS Extends Global Wide Area Network (WAN) Agreement with Global Cloud Xchange to Facilitate Strategic Growth Plan
FRANKFURT, Germany, May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Cloud Xchange, formerly Reliance Globalcom, has renewed a multi-million, multi-year agreement with SGS for its global Wide Area Network (WAN) and all global Network and Security related services including the co-management of the Application Aware Networking System.
"Our 2014 Growth Plan defines the strategic lines that SGS will pursue to strengthen our dominant position in the testing, inspection and certification marketplace," said Serge Thomas, CIO at SGS. "Through its extensive global network infrastructure, Global Cloud Xchange has enabled SGS to adapt the existing WAN solution in each local market and achieve key targets in our Business Plan. This contract extension reflects that Global Cloud Xchange is our trusted partner for any network related issues as they provide us with flexibility to scale our operations rapidly, ensuring we are cost competitive in every market."
"We are delighted to continue our successful relationship with SGS and appreciate this significant demonstration of confidence that SGS has placed on Global Cloud Xchange. Through the years, our team has developed a deep understanding of the SGS business and we are absolutely committed to further enhancing our support to help SGS achieve key business targets," said Bill Barney, CEO at Global Cloud Xchange.
SGS, a Global Cloud Xchange customer since 2004, initially launched a four-year strategic growth plan in 2010, which aimed to significantly increase the company's revenues while doubling the number of staff and operating income through growth, optimization and cost savings. In order to support these targets, the SGS network required even more agility and flexibility to support organic and acquisition-based growth, an extensive geographical footprint and widespread global needs across the company's diverse operation.
Aligning optimum technologies with a strategic infrastructure development plan across regions, Global Cloud Xchange delivered cost reductions and specific solutions fundamental for SGS to compete across global markets. The fully redundant global network uses Ethernet Layer 2, MPLS, VPLS and IPSec technologies to connect more than 850 sites in 115 countries across five continents. Global Cloud Xchange's global infrastructure provides dynamic bandwidth scaling, and when combined with best-in-class local service providers and technologies, enables SGS to match their exact requirements to business needs.
