CHENGDU, China, June 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- "Sichuan, more than pandas", Sichuan's new international tourism logo by the Sichuan Tourism Administration (SCTA) made its debut in May 2015, introducing to visitors the province's efforts to build Sichuan into one of the major tourism spots in China and to promote Sichuan as an international tourism destination. From April to June in 2014, SCTA launched a global compaign to seek from the public the best logo for Sichuan's tourism resources. The event received a great deal of responses from the public and by the submission deadline 235 submissions were collected. In the end, 4 out of the 235 submissions were selected as the finalists through a process of online voting and experts' appraisement. SCTA chose the top-ranked work, "Sichuan, more than pandas", from the 4 finalists as its new international tourism logo last month.
The new logo, with its original design, reflects the essence of Sichuan and is intended to be Sichuan's name-card to international tourists. The English letters of Sichuan are artistically designed into the image of a panda, at the same time the logo perfectly integrates the symbol of Sichuan's spicy food, showing Sichuan people's eating habits and catering culture. The color of the new logo represent Sichuan's featured elements: nature, culture, history, scenery and delicious cuisine.
