StubHub to Sponsor World Tennis Day Showdown in London in 2014
DUBLIN, January 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
StubHub, the world's largest secondary ticketing marketplace and part of the eBay Inc. family today unveiled its first official sports partnership of 2014 with the World Tennis Day Showdown presented by the Financial Times at London Earls Court. The London showcase is a new addition to the World Tennis Day format, organized by StarGames following a successful inaugural year in 2013 which saw events in New York's Madison Square Garden and Hong Kong. All three events will be held on Monday March 3rd.
The London Showdown will see tennis legends Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, Pat Cash and Ivan Lendl recreate two iconic Wimbledon finals. The partnership will see StubHub operating as a primary ticketing sales channel where event promoters StarGames will list tickets at face value directly on stubhub.co.uk. StubHub will also operate as the Official Ticket Marketplace enabling tennis fans to safely and securely buy and sell tickets for the event on stubhub.co.uk. All the tickets listed on the UK website are also available for purchase for fans across the globe. The agreement also provides StubHub with a full range of marketing and activation assets including the chance for fans to win coaching sessions with the players and VIP hospitality packages.
Nick Harford, Director of Partnerships, International for StubHub said: "Stargames has successfully run fantastic events in Hong Kong and New York and we're delighted to be involved as World Tennis Day extends its reach to London's Earls Court. British interest in tennis reached a new high last summer and with the new event we're excited to be involved from a brand marketing perspective, to being a primary ticketing sales channel, alongside providing the Official Ticket Marketplace."
Jerry Solomon, President & CEO of StarGames Inc. added: "We are excited to have StubHub join our group of world class sponsors that make World Tennis Day come to life. As we expand this year to London, I am equally excited about bringing four of the greatest players in the history of tennis to a landmark venue in one of the greatest tennis markets in the world. March 3 should be a "must see" event for tennis fans who now have an important new ticketing outlet."

About StubHub
StubHub is a ticket marketplace that connects buyers to sellers, however, unlike current UK competitors, the company does not buy or sell tickets itself or charge fans additional booking fees at the point of purchase - a first for the industry.
StubHub, which launched in the US in 2000, consistently holds the highest customer satisfaction ratings in the entire ticketing industry, and boasts one of the highest scores in all of e-commerce. Every purchase made through the site is backed by StubHub's FanProtect™ Guarantee, which guards against fraud and ensures that buyers get what they pay for.
StubHub offers a full suite of mobile applications, and opened the first-ever central London retail outlet for fans to buy, pick up or drop off their tickets on Great Portland Street last year. Additional pop-up locations are also planned across the country. These will be conveniently located close to major venues, meaning fans will never have to worry about getting in at the last minute.
The company also has a Dublin-based call centre, open from 09:00 - 21:00, seven days a week, to handle any and all customer queries (0800.358.8585).
