AMSTERDAM, April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --
The first edition of Health ingredients South East Asia took place from 6-8 April in Jakarta, Indonesia alongside CPhI South East Asia. The decision to launch a health ingredients event in this region was based on the growing consumer demands for nutraceuticals, dietary supplements and functional foods. The principle drivers behind this growth being increased GDP, changing life styles and consumption patterns, and better access to information about health.

The first edition of Hi South East Asia featured the Hi pavilion where both local Indonesian and international health ingredients manufacturers presented their innovative health ingredients. Alongside the pavilion there was also a two-day seminar program 'Health ingredients and functional foods for better quality of life 'which contained a variety of in-depth presentations and discussions from top regional and international industry experts. The seminars had a great attendance with each day attracting over 200 attendees.
The seminar program was organised in conjunction with The International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST), a global non-profit scientific organisation for food science and technology and was supported by leading institutions such as the National Agency of Drug and Food Control Indonesia, the International Union of Food Science and Technology, the Indonesian Food & Beverages Association - GAPMMI and the Seafast Centre.
Some of the topics covered in the seminars include; Regulations on functional health ingredients in Indonesia, Opportunities and challenges of medicalized foods and the Multimodality approach in promoting healthy foods.
The speakers, such as Mr. Adhi Lukman, Chairman of GAPMMI, and Manas Tamotia, Partner of Singapore based consulting firm LEK Consulting were unanimously positive about the future growth potential for health food products. Indonesia with its large population and recognition of certain health claims is together with Thailand the largest health market in South East Asia. As such there is a large demand for health ingredients in Indonesia, of which the majority are imported ingredients.
Olav Masseling, Brand Manager of Health ingredients South East Asia was very pleased with the success of the launch event and sees Hi SEA as a strong addition to the growing global Health ingredients brand "We are very happy with the positive feedback from the first edition of Health ingredients South East Asia. The feedback onsite from exhibitors, visitors and speakers reinforces our decision to launch our health ingredients brand into South East Asia. The onsite conference was the highlight of the show, with a full attendance over the two days from both health ingredients and CPhI attendees. "
The event will return to Jakarta next year from 22-24 March 2017.
