MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, Aug. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For Surrey County Council, the local authority for a population of more than 1.1 million people in the South East of England, a mobile workforce means less time spent in the office and more time on the frontline delivering services such as adult social care and road improvements and maintenance. The council has decided to initiate this mobile strategy, with the help of MobileIron (NASDAQ:MOBL), the stand-alone EMM leader.

As part of its Modern Worker programme, Surrey County Council ensured staff had MobileIron-secured iOS devices.
"After evaluating the leading enterprise mobility management products on the market and consulting with technology partner Appurity, we chose MobileIron to securely provide the tools our employees need to deliver social services in the community," said Justin Wood, Senior Consultant, Surrey County Council. "We were ready to embrace the new smartphones and tablets that were on the market but were held up by the stringent security requirements under which we operate. The MobileIron platform was able to meet our security needs, as well as the productivity needs of our service workers across all areas."
Unleashing potential
Surrey County Council wanted to provide a mobile framework so that their council teams could leave their desks behind and spend more time in the field. The deployment of MobileIron Docs@Work allows employees to read emails, open email attachments, make edits, and send documents on to colleagues, without having to return to the office or open a laptop. Employees are free to download apps that will help them in their day-to-day work by visiting the corporate app store provided through MobileIron Apps@Work.
Secure and compliant access
As a UK local government organisation, Surrey County Council must comply with strict data security requirements such as Public Services Network (PSN) and Communications-Electronics Security Group (CESG). MobileIron Web@Work and AppTunnel applications provide secure connections to the network and sensitive data, whilst keeping everything in line with data security regulations.
"With the introduction of MobileIron, our council social workers are able to use their iPads in the field and reduce the amount of time spent on administrative tasks in the office. This is yielding greater productivity for our social workers and a higher quality of care for residents," said Justin Wood.
