- Leading global stevia producer to showcase a new sweetener at IFT 2015
BELLINGHAM, Washington, July 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sweet Green Fields, a leading U.S.-based global producer of stevia extracts, today announced a new breakthrough stevia product, Intesse. A proprietary, JECFA compliant Non-GMO blend of active steviol glycosides (stevia compounds), Intesse offers customers an upfront sweetness profile extremely close to sugar with added health benefits, and a significantly reduced bitterness and lingering profile compared with other stevia sweeteners. Intesse will be sampled at the Institute of Food Technologies (IFT) 2015 tradeshow in Chicago, booth #3734, in no-sugar-added, zero-calorie frozen yogurt, carbonated drinks and other beverages.

"We are dedicated to creating the best tasting stevia sweeteners," said Dean Francis, CEO, Sweet Green Fields. "We are focused on taste, naturalness and innovation. The successful creation of Intesse consolidates our belief and position in delivering the value of constant improvement to our customers."
As the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee continues to recommend less sugar consumption, and the Food and Drug administration proposes food nutrition labels to caution on added sugars, stevia continues to be a preferred sugar-free sweetener. Responding to consumer demand, Intesse offers a new, improved taste. In trained sensory studies conducted by SGF, panelists acknowledged Intesse offered no aftertaste or bitter flavor note, and rather a pure sugar-like taste.
"Intesse significantly increases the utility of high purity stevia for liquid concentrates," said Dr. Mel Jackson, VP of science, Sweet Green Fields. "The sugar-like taste and peak solubility make Intesse an ideal stevia extract for formulating a flavorful no-sugar-added product without any lingering aftertaste."
According to the Global Stevia Institute, stevia has the potential to become the next mass volume, natural sweetener to be used as a mainstream ingredient across global food and beverage categories. Stevia continues to satisfy consumer demand and manufacturers requirements, with food and beverage manufacturers continuing to incorporate because of its economic pricing, scalable supply reliability, sustainability production and viable complement to other natural sweeteners. According to a study by Innova Market Insights of global product launches containing a non-nutritive sweetener, stevia is the third-most tracked, with a presence of 27 percent in 2014.
Intesse is the latest stevia sweetener from SGF to offer customers a plant-derived, all-natural, no-calorie and zero-glycemic sweetener. SGF produces high purity stevia compounds that are 100 percent natural with no enzymes, methanol, formaldehyde or GMOs, and are heat and pH stable, as well as Kosher and Halal certified.
