Synchronised Heads Maximum Field of 40 for John Smith's Grand National
AINTREE, England, April 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
Synchronised heads a maximum field of 40 for the John Smith's Grand National following the final declarations for the race and is the 7/1 favourite with Aintree's official betting partner Betfred.
The Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup winner is not only aiming to be the first horse to carry top-weight to victory since Red Rum back in 1974 but also the first to complete the Gold Cup-Grand National double in the same season since Golden Miller in 1934.
"It's going to take a momentous gamble to displace Synchronised at the head of the Grand National market and with AP McCoy on board, he's certain to be the most popular choice on betting slips up and down the country," said Betfred spokesman George Primarolo.
Giles Cross, Junior and West End Rocker are all next in the market at 12/1 whilst it's 14/1 bar. Betfred make it an 11/1 chance that either Nina Carberry or Katie Walsh become the first female jockey to win the John Smith's Grand National whilst it's 7/4 that the winner is trained in Ireland.
