Tenerife Sees UK Tourism Boost, Say Holiday Hypermarket

-A holiday hotspot for Brits, Tenerife has seen a 10 per cent increase in UK tourism since 2010, so don't miss out on affordable flights to the Canary Islands this summer-

2011 was a bumper year for Tenerife holidays, say leading online travel retailer, Holiday Hypermarket. Topping their list of the most popular destinations and most-booked flights from London airports in February, the largest island in the Canaries continues to be a hot holiday choice for UK visitors - even in the winter.

This is in keeping with figures released by the Tenerife Tourism Corporation, which states that Tenerife welcomed nearly 1.66 million British visitors in 2011, representing a 10.6 per cent increase from 2010. It also saw an increase in tourist arrivals in the winter months, reaching its highest level in recent years.

The biggest spike, however, was in the peak month of September, where there was an increase of 34 per cent, with a large proportion of holidaymakers choosing to stay in hotel-type accommodation.
