NEW YORK and LONDON, June 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
The 2015 ICIS Kavaler Award, sponsored by The Chemists' Club, and in association with The Valence Group, will be awarded to Andrew N. Liveris, chairman and chief executive officer of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), in recognition for outstanding achievement as voted on by his peers.

This unique global chemical industry award will be presented to Mr. Liveris at a black tie dinner ceremony on Tuesday 27 October 2015, at the main branch of the New York Public Library in New York City.
The distinguishing feature of this award is that the winner is selected by his/her peers - the senior executives selected in the ICIS Top 40 Power Players listing - a global ranking of the leaders making the greatest impact on the chemical industry.
"Under the leadership of Mr. Liveris, Dow is making transformational moves - from feedstock advantaged capital investments on the US Gulf Coast and in the Middle East, to divestitures of non-core assets such as the tax-advantaged deal to carve-out the chlor-alkali and derivatives business," said Joseph Chang, global editor of ICIS Chemical Business.
"I am honored to be selected as the recipient of the 2015 ICIS Kavaler Award and proud to join a distinguished legacy of honorees," said Liveris. "This recognition belongs to all of Dow's women and men - our Human Element at work. It acknowledges our proactive and consistent implementation of Dow's market-driven strategy, as we continue to position our company for long-term value growth."
In the award selection process, ICIS and The Chemists' Club invited each of the ICIS Top 40 Power Players for 2014 to vote for three individuals in the ballot, based on newsworthy achievement in one or more of the following categories:

Background
The award is a revival of the Kavaler Award, which was presented by Chemical Market Reporter to leading chemical CEOs from 1990 to 1999, including Jon Huntsman Sr., founder, chairman and CEO of Huntsman, and Frank Popoff, chairman and CEO of Dow Chemical. Arthur Kavaler, who served for 46 years as reporter, editor and eventually publisher and editor-in-chief of Chemical Market Reporter - one of the three publications incorporated into ICIS Chemical Business - passed away at the age of 91 on January 18, 2012. Kavaler, a probing reporter and an editor with unwavering conviction, had a major impact on chemical industry journalism.
