The Body Shop Is Proudly Supporting Teenage Cancer Trust in 2013
LONDON, January 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Ethical beauty retailer The Body Shop is delighted to announce an exciting and unique partnership with Teenage Cancer Trust, the only UK charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival of young people with cancer. The partnership will see the two organisations working together throughout 2013 to improve the lives of young people with cancer age 13 to 24.
Both The Body Shop and Teenage Cancer Trust are committed to changing lives through passionate advocacy and unwavering positivity. Teenage Cancer Trust brings young people with cancer together so they can support each other and lessen the painful isolation many feel at such a difficult time. They also help young people with the huge impact cancer and cancer treatments can have on body image and self-confidence. The charity's work has great synergy with The Body Shop's belief that beauty is not only about looking good, but also feeling good and doing good.
"The Body Shop is incredibly proud to be partnering with Teenage Cancer Trust this year. We believe that business can and indeed must be a force for good in society. We call this "Beauty With Heart", and our partnership will allow us to bring this to life for our staff and our millions of customers in the UK, helping improve the lives of as many young people and their families as we possibly can."
Simon Coble, General Manager, The Body Shop (UK)
For the first time ever The Body Shop is launching a charity single, Beauty With Heart, written and performed by British singer/songwriter Leddra Chapman; available to download from 8th January 2013 for just 99p from fairsharemusic.com.
"I'm such a supporter of The Body Shop: they're an incredible brand and do some really amazing things for the greater good. I was thrilled when asked to write a song interpreting what Beauty With Heart means to me and even more so when I found out that all the proceeds are to go to Teenage Cancer Trust!"

And it doesn't stop there! The Body Shop is committed to making a real difference by going above and beyond fundraising. The partnership will deliver a range of activities for young people with cancer including make-up workshops in the charity's specialist cancer units across the UK, and work experience opportunities in The Body Shop® stores.
"There are strong parallels between our two organisations and we're looking forward to an exciting year ahead. Cancer and cancer treatment can impact appearance in many difficult ways, including losing hair, dramatically changing weight, scarring, problems with sight or balance or even losing limbs. We know how hard these issues are for young people to cope with. Our vision is a future where young people's lives don't stop because they have cancer, and we want every young person with cancer to have access to our specialist care no matter where they live. The Body Shop's support will be a powerful force for helping us achieve this."
Simon Davies, CEO, Teenage Cancer Trust
The Body Shop aims to raise £250,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust through a number of exciting fundraising activities throughout the year. From April 2013 customers can also choose to get involved by making a 10p donation at the end of their purchase.
