World's highest-growth market makes its presence felt at FI Europe
China quite literally is the food ingredients industry's 'land of the rising sun'. In terms of food ingredients, no other country has a comparably rich history, which raises expectations for an equally vibrant future. Chinese culture boasts a culinary tradition that has developed over millennia. Nowhere is the link between good health and good food viewed as such a self-evident fact of life as in China. Fertile ground indeed for innovations in food and nutrition. More important still is the anticipated rapid growth of China's population. The food and beverages market is currently expanding at twice the rate of the current No. 1, the United States. China is expected to become the world's second largest food market behind the US by 2017. The projected growth of middle-income households to 30 million by 2020, in particular, opens up immense perspectives for the food ingredients industry.

Given the enormity of the potential for Chinese and international companies, it comes as no surprise that the China Pavilion will be one of the main attractions of the upcoming Food ingredients Europe fair in Frankfurt (19 - 21 November). Two years ago, the trade fair featured only 23 exhibitors from China, whereas this year the number has skyrocketed to 250 exhibitors who will be showcasing their latest products and innovations on a floor space totalling 2,700 sqm. That is a tenfold increase in the number of Chinese exhibitors - and an unmistakable sign both of the industry's growth in China and of Fi Europe's relevance as the biggest food ingredients trade event in Europe. The roster of Chinese companies that are already global players exhibiting at Fi Europe includes, for instance, Weifang Ensign Industry Co. Ltd., a leading supplier of citric acid monohydrate, and Fufeng Group Ltd., with a product range comprising, among other things, xanthan gum, an eco-certified gelling and thickening agent.
Liu Zhanglin, Vice President China Chamber of Commerce: "As the largest food ingredients exhibition in Europe, Fi Europe is recognized by most Chinese exhibitors for its professionalism and diversified product ranging. "It is regarded as a highly qualified platform for Chinese exhibitors to participate in international trade. The biennial exhibition in 2013 is filled with hope from every Chinese exhibitor. In 2013, as a partner to the China Pavilion, CCCMHPIE wishes Fi Europe every success. We are looking forward to Fi Europe and that it brings great success to every Chinese exhibitor in November."
26.000 trade visitors from 154 countries will be attending Fi Europe to see at first hand what the future of the food and drinks industry holds in store. 1,300 exhibitors from 94 nations are expected to take part this year, breaking any previous record.
