The Theatres Trust Announces its People's Choice Award 2012 Winner

We are delighted to announce that The Theatres Trust People's Choice Award 2012 Winner is ShowTex.
Mr Koen Van Kerkhoven, Managing Partner of ShowTex Belgium was presented with the Theatres Trust's sustainability award by PLASA's Chief Executive Officer and Director of Events, Matthew Griffiths, for its Acoustic Baffle.
The Award was presented on the stage of the Trust's PLASA 2012 stand which this year featured the 'Celebrating Ecovenue' exhibition. The People's Choice Award was established through the Ecovenue project in 2010.
The People's Choice Award is voted for by visitors to the PLASA 2012 show at Earls Court and is for products making inroads into sustainability - either through design, manufacture or operation. The products entered into the 2012 Awards included:
- CORE Lighting - CORE Theatre Worklight
- Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc - ETC Source Four Dimmer
- Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc - ETC Source Four LED
- Martin - MAC Aura
- Robert Juliat - TIBO
- ShowTex - Acoustic Baffle
- State Automation - INCAND-Air 30
At the Clay Paky sponsored ceremony drinks reception, Mr Van Kerkhoven said "I am very proud to receive this award. Thank you to The Theatres Trust - this why producing sustainable products is important".
Jessica Ballenger, Showtex Marketing Manager, added "We hope that the process of developing the product will inspire others to look at product development in a new way. The Acoustic Baffle came about organically by starting with the principle of recycling first, and then finding the optimal way we could use the end product of that recycling as a solution to shape acoustics in a flexible, easy and ecological way".
Tim Atkinson, Theatre Building Services Adviser for The Theatres Trust, who is delivering its European Regional Development Fund-backed 'Ecovenue' project, said, "I'm delighted that ShowTex has received this year's award. As Ecovenue ends on the 30 September I'm also pleased the Trust will continue to run the award as a legacy of the project.
