This Year's Home Improvement Show at Olympia London, Will be About Conversions
LONDON, September 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
The National Home Improvement Show at London Olympia is less than a week away; and some are predicting this year's trend might just be about conversions, including barn conversions and recently, retail to residential conversions.
Since the announcement of relaxed planning laws; residential conversions have grown in popularity. More good news is emerging about "Retail to Residential" conversions. Britain's property industry, construction, and the structural defects insurance industry couldn't be happier with the news.
Over the past few years, statistics have been presented that continually show the issues around the country's housing shortage. In order to combat Britain's housing shortage, specific planning rules are being relaxed. Just recently the go-ahead has been given for the conversion of offices into homes without planning permissions. The effort comes directly from the government in order to simplify the planning system and free up the empty commercial space.
CRL, one of the UK's leading structural defects insurance providers has noticed a significant rise in requests for conversion insurance.
"With all the recent changes and proposals being made with regard to conversions, including relaxed planning laws; this is great news for many of us in the industry. The upsurge in enquiries for conversion insurance has really been quite impressive." - Steve Mansour, Managing Director at C-R-L.com
The Home Improvement Show at London Olympia is expected to receive 20,000 attendees, and Mansour believes many will be looking for the most creative ways to improve on their homes;
"I believe the top trend this year will be greatly geared towards conversions. We have a stand reserved at the home show not only to meet and greet, but we want to address the conversion surge, and make ourselves available to answer any questions regarding the insurance involved. We need people to know that we not only deal with conversion insurance on larger scale projects like business to residential or social housing; we also provide insurance for smaller scale projects, like barn conversions or home renovations."
